Welcome to my web pages. I've been writing music for 40 years, much of it for university and professional colleagues and churches where I've served as organist, choir director, or minister of music. Periodically I've gotten the publication bug, but I haven't stuck with it, often getting distracted by a new project. I've received several ASCAPlus awards, a number of commissions, and an even greater number of pats on the back. I'd really like to see my music being played and sung, rather than sitting in a file drawer until I need it myself.

This site is one of three that together present the compositions, performances and related activities of Robert Train Adams. You might think of this site as a combination resume, set of program notes, and annotated catalog. You will not only be able to learn about my works, but ultimately be able to download or purchase them.

At present, if you find something that interests you, drop me a note at robert(at)adamsworks.com. I may well be pleased to just send you a copy for your non-commercial use --although I reserve the right to make a little money for my endeavors, if the situation so suggests!

My blog, Music to my ears, is intended to be the most dynamic of the three sites. It has four related goals:

  • Share some of the music I've written
  • Talk about compositions that have influenced my musical development
  • Share my passion for music and some of the insights I've gained as a musician
  • Provide a forum for discussing composition
I encourage you to visit and offer your comments.

A number of Complete pieces will be posted on this website. You are welcome to download them and use them for noncommercial purposes (I would love to know about any performances). I will also post works on the American Music Center's New Music Jukebox. You will need to register to gain access to the site (then select "Composers," then "Robert Adams"), but the process is fairly painless. In addition to scores, MIDI files and MP3s are available for listening. If you are interested in anything that isn't available for viewing, hearing or downloading, please contact me.
