Behold, I Do a New Thing
a composition for tbb and piano by Robert Train Adams
masterlist
: choral
Duration
2'45"
Description
Version 1: A setting of Isaiah 43:18-21 for men's choir.
The men in my church choir are enthusiastic but, like many church choirs,
of uneven ability. They do sound good together, so this piece has lots
of unison, breaking into two-and three-voice harmonies that are primarily
homophonic with a few suspensions. One imitative section has two voices,
but the material is designed to be easy to learn and fun to sing. The
piece has a definite contemporary, jazz/pop flavor. Easy to medium difficulty.
Version 2: A reworking of the men's version for satb.
The men still have the lead, with the women adding a richer orchestration.
