Comment: With the exception of the softer, mellower B
section, this piece moves forward with energy—climbing the high
mountain to proclaim “Here is your God.” There is not much
harmonic movement, with all of the various A sections having a handbell
ostinato behind them (the A material is almost pentatonic, with some slight
diatonic material, particularly on the closing “Here is your God”
section). Lively melodic material that expresses the text compensates
for the static harmonic structures.
