Comment: A joyful setting of a joyful text. The rondo
form ensures that the opening “glory” frequently reappears.
The soprano and tenor duet of the middle section is also punctuated by
the opening material, here presented by strings and bells. I thought long
about ending the cantata with this movement, with its strong, bright ending,
but decided against that, liking the pairing of the energy of this movement
with the spare, calming reflection of the next.
