It will be summer--eventually

a composition for satb chorus a capella by Robert Train Adams
masterlist : choral

Duration

20 minutes

Description

A set of eight poems of Emily Dickenson for a capella chorus. All movements are SATB except number 3 (tbb), 5 (ssatbb), and 7 (ssa). This set is modelled very loosely after Randall Thompson's Frostiana: New England poet, symmetrical structure, a few other minor details (no musical themes, however). Unlike Frostiana, my set is strictly a capella, and has a set of very short interludes based on the opening movement. There are other cyclical elements, including the return of opening material in the closing movement. That said, most of the movements work well by themselves.
